Sixteen people were killed during the Azimio demonstrations that happened in the month of March.
A report by Amnesty International states that 12 of those people were shot dead by the police while four others were killed as a result of mob justice.

Mausi Segun Africa Director at Human Rights Watch has called out the blatant abuse of rights of protesters by the police during the demonstrations.
“The Kenyan authorities should stop glossing over the abuse of protesters by the police and other acts of violence,” said Segun.
“They should urgently and thoroughly investigate police abuse during recent protests including failure to protect demonstrators,” he said.
The two agencies interviewed 115 witnesses and victims of police violence during protests in Nairobi, Kisumu, Migori and Homabay towns.
