A 16 year old boy in Kibra slums is trying to trace his family after four years of being placed in a children’s home in Loitoktok by the court.
John Beckham was reportedly arrested in 2016 and charged with petty offence at the Milimani Children’s Home when he was 12 years old.
Kibra Child Protection Officer Humphrey Lando says that the court resolved to take him to Teule Children’s Home in Loitoktok after they were unable to trace his family members.
“This minor John Beckham was staying in Ayany Kibra, he left his home four years ago when he was 12 years ago and stayed a little bit in remand. The court then tried to trace his family to no success forcing them to place him in a chidren’s home in Loitoktok,” explained Lando.
Lando says that together with officers from Teule Children’s Home, they have for two days now tried to trace Beckham’s parents in Ayani Kibra to no success.
“The officers at Teule has taken care of him for all that while and now they feel that they need to hand him back home to his parents. So they came to me as a child protection officer and we have searched for two days now without success,” said Lando.
Lando says the situation has been difficult since the minor only remembers a school named Maryline Academy in Kibra and nothing else.
