More than 1,000,000 candidates who sat for their KCPE Exams this year will now know their secondary schools by 2ND December this year.
This is according to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha who says they will hit the ground tomorrow to ensure the selection process begins.
‘‘We shall make sure this is done so that parents do not misuse their money during Christmas..’’ Magoha said.
He also revealed that the government has released Ksh. 8 billion to improve infrastructure in both Primary and Secondary Schools to ensure 100% transition.
Meanwhile the government will also give 9,000 scholarship program to disadvantaged pupils in city slums.
The initial plan was to give the scholarships to pupils in selected 30 counties but a review of the plan deemed it fit to issue the scholarships to pupils in city slums, Nairobi county included.
‘‘There were notions that Nairobi city county does not need this assistance but our president in his wisdom has directed that slums in Nairobi must be included.’’ Magoha noted.
