25 teenagers arrested while shooting pornography

Twenty-five teenagers were yesterday arrested in Maraba Estate, Kakamega County on allegations of shooting pornography.

The suspects who are said to be 15 boys and 10 girls aged between 14 and 17 years.

A witness who sought anonymity says that he alerted the police after he noticed packets of strewn condom wrappings in the house that is next to the road.

The suspects were arrested alongside a man only identified as Caleb who the police believe was behind the criminal act.

According to the police, all the suspects are high school students in Form Two and Three in various schools.

“All these are minors and we found them before starting the act and arrested them. We will deal with the man (Caleb) for he is the one misleading the young ones,” said the police.

The police are planning to only charge the man and release the teenagers.

The police have however urged parents to be vigilant with their children during this time when schools are closed.

In April, police arrested 18 people at a sex party in Jamhuri Estate in Nairobi County. Among those arrested were two 14 year olds.

Experts have linked the rising cases of teens shooting pornography to the Covid-19 pandemic that has seen many teenagers idle due to closure of schools.

Last month, a survey by the Kenya Health Information System survey showed that about 4,000 girls aged between 19 years and below were reported pregnant in Machakos County.

According to the survey, these incidents happened between the months of January and May.
