Three police officers were on Wednesday killed when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Garissa County.
The officers were on patrol in Kulan area when their vehicle hit a landmine at 6.30am
Three other officers injured in the attack have been flown to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
The attack comes a day after Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet warned that Al Shabaab terrorists are planning to cross over into the country to launch attacks at the border areas.
Meanwhile residents of Hamza area Nairobi are still in shock over an incident where a police officer was shot and wounded after he was reported to have been involved in a crime incident.
The officer attached to Diplomatic police unit was spotted at the scene at about 2 am while armed by residents who ended up calling police on patrol.
The officer engaged them in a shootout before he was shot and injured.
He is currently recuperating in hospital.
