The splash for dust and glory during the 2018 KCB Autocross season opener came to dramatic close on Sunday 21st January evening.
The straight fight between top drivers was evident with the introduction of the open category.
Sikh Union Club Surinder Bharaj who was the clerkof course for KCB Autocross 1 championship said the new category of competition was necessitated by minimal restrictions in turbo capacity for various cars.
“It was another successful KCB Autocross, the track was amazing and the level of competition was high”, said Surinder.
The competitors were delighted with the leading lender institution Bank for injecting Sh 20 Million for 10 Autocross events and 7 KNRC events in 2018.
“The whole dimension has changed since KCB took over , the competition has grown increasing in number of participants and ardent fans who follow Autocross action across the country”,said Anwar.
Speaking during the awards ceremony at TJRV track in Mai Mahiu, KCB Ol Kalou Branch Manager Julius Munene said that KCB will continue to support motorsport development at diferent levels.
The still waters ran deep as Alfir Khan defeated Asad Anwar in the open category by three seconds..while his son Hamza Anwar finished 3rd clocking 08:02:10 in the open category .
4wd Turbo defending champion Rehan Shah was victorious yet again in the glorious outing clocking 07:47:30 ahead of Lovejyot Singh and Sahib Omar while MacRae Kimathi finished 4th ahead of Ken Nteere and Jackson Wandeto.
Hamza Anwar won the 2wd Non Turbo ahead of Sameer Nanji and Safina Khan.
The 2wd Turbo crown was won by Imran Hakada who clocked 02:41:70 during heat 3. Kunal Patel and Zameer Verjee finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In other results of the day Tsevi Soni won the Bambino class followed by Yuvraj Rajput and Tsorav Soni.
Rajveer Thethy was crowned the 2wd Junior non Turbo Champion.
There was a sense of sweetness and light that enabled the drivers to achieve fastest times during KCB Autocross.
