5 Major Restrictions Uhuru Is Expected To Lift


As Kenyans await President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 12th Covid-19 address today, here are some of the major announcements Kenyans expect from him.

  1. School Reopening dates

Last week the government directed teachers to return to school in what many people describe as the first ystep towards the preparation of schools for the re-opening since Covid-19 hit the country.

  1. Re-opening of bars and night clubs

During his last address, President Uhuru Kenyatta stated that his team from the government was going to meet bars and night club operators to discuss the the measures that are supposed to be taken for the re-opening of bars and night clubs.

  1. Lifting of the Dusk to Dawn curfews

The dusk to dawn curfew was one of the first restrictions that were given by the government since the first cases of Covid-19 were announced. Despite it being adjusted from 7 to 9 pm, Kenyans still feel that the night economy should be re-opened.

  1. Nigh Travel Ban

The transport industry suffered a major blow following the nigh travel ban that has limited the number of trips they make in a day.


  1. Relaxation of Public Gatherings

This is a restriction that has denied many Kenyans their rights, including the right to worship. Depsite being implemented, a number of leaders have defied it including President Uhuru Kenyatta who has been seen addressing large crowds during his vvarious visists. Relaxing it will see many people attend social gatherings and go to church.
