Africa gets its first 2022 World Cup win as Senegal get a 1-3 win against the hosts Qatar at the Al Thumama stadium in Doha.
Senegal were the first to score in the 41st minute by Boulaye Dia who plays for Salernitana in spain. At the begining of the second half in the 48’th minute, Famafa Diedhiou scored the 2nd goal assisted by Ismail Jakobs for Senegal,
Qatar fought back as the substitute Mohhamed Muntari scored Qatar’s first World Cup goal in the 78’th minute and gave the hosts a hope to at least grab a point in the match.
Their hopes were however shatered by Marseille forward Bamba Ndieng who scored Senegal’s third in the 84th minute and the match ended 1-3.
The defeat for Qatar means that the hosts are already out of the 2022 World Cup even if they beat Netherlands in their last group match won’t mean much. Qatar becomes the second team in world cup history to be the hosts and be knocked out at the group stages.
