Kenyans have taken to social media mourning Rex Kanyike Masai who was allegedly shot by an unidentified police officer during a protest against the Finance Bill 2024 in Nairobi CBD

Rex Kanyike was declared dead at 7.38pm
’One bystander came to the rescue and helped carry Kanyike who was bleeding profusely. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital that was only a few metres away from the scene of the shooting. His friend Alex says the hospital didn’t even want to open the doors because they thought it was protestors being chased by the police. They took their time. He was shot around 7:00 pm and declared dead at 7:38 pm.’’ Further read His X post
