A Police officer has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the ongoing anti government demonstrations organized by the Opposition over high cost of living.
The officer identified as Constable Evans Otieno was arrested while engaging with other protesters who were blocking roads in Nzaui Makueni County.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when Constable Evans Otieno was spotted among protesters who attacked the Emali police station.
“Please be informed that No.117670 Pc Evans Otieno of this command whose recommendation letter ref. kps/Dig/Est/Hrm/30/vol.v/4 dated June 19, 2023, was arrested today the 20 day of July 2023 along Msa/Nbi highway at Emali,”
A police report read.
His active participation in the demonstrations raised suspicions and prompted authorities to take immediate action and launch a thorough investigation.

“The said officer was also seen by his colleagues yesterday the 19th of July 2023 being among the rioters who were pelting stones at Emali police station,”
Bhang Found
During the arrest police officers were able to discover that constable Otieno was in possession of 40 rolls of Bhang hence leading to further scrutiny into the officers’ actions.
“During his arrest after a quick search, he was found in possession of 40 rolls of Bhang whose street value is approximately Ksh 2000,”
The demos which commenced yesterday Wednesday and are supposed to end tomorrow Friday has seen widespread violence with youths seen barricading roads and engaging in cat and mouse game with the police.
