Ababu Namwamba wants Nyanza counties denied public funds

A group of professionals under the umbrella Council of Professionals has filed a petition to the National Assembly and Senate to freeze the allocation of public funds in NASA strongholds.

Addressing the media CPK chairman Ababu Namwamba says the treasury should not fund Busia, Siaya, Homabay and Vihiga counties because they are illegally culminating to enact motions to establish “People’s assembly”.

Ababu adds that the establishment of these assemblies will deny citizens their rights to freely elect their leaders and might lead to prolonged internal strife.

The council wants the National Assembly and Senate to investigate as to why the Treasury and controller of budget have not withdrawn the allocation of funds in the four counties.

They also want the National Assembly to enact a resolution that will initiate the process of dissolving the four counties that profess to establish the “people’s assembly”.
