Activist Wants DPP To Record Statement On His Remarks Over Yala Bodies

An activist has filed a petition at the Milimani Law Courts seeking orders to compel the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to record statements over his recent remarks on River Yala mysterious bodies.

The activist Fredrick Bikeri through his lawyer Dansatan Omari wants the court to compel Inspector Genral of Police Hillary Muyambai and DCI George Kinoti to have Haji record a statement over his remarks that indicated that the government knew something about the River Yala bodies.

Close to 30 bodies have been collected from River Yala after human rights activist Hussein Khalid sounded an alarm.

In the petition which has been certified as urgent, Fredrick Bikeri argues that the DPP made the remarks on May 10, 2022 while addressing attendees of the annual National Conference on Criminal Justice Reforms held in Naivasha.

Cabinet Secretary for the Interior Security and Coordination of National Government Dr. Fred Matiang’I was among the attendees of the forum.

“The DDP confirmed in the presence of the Chief Justice, and Security  Cabinet Secretary  Fred Matiang’i  that he knows the killers, everybody  is compelled to report  a criminal matter and record a statement, Noordin  Hajji  should stand at the dock as a witness,” Omari  said.

Omari insisted that the utterance of Noordin Hajji was not in vain and that he must be treated as witnesses in the quest of justice by families of the thirty deceased persons.
