Activists Protest Against Magoha’s Directive On Gay Students
A section of activists today held demonstrations to condemn Cabinet Secretary for Education George Magoha’s directives to students engaging in homosexuality attend day schools.
The activists claim that remarks by Magoha were inflammatory and might incite the society against gay students.
“Claims that LGBTQ are influencing other students to be gay are lies because even most of these LGBTQ people have not come out, “said Maureen Petit.
According to Petit the directive by Magoha will make even the day schools turn away the LGBTQ students.
“These day schools they are telling us to take our children are also mixed meaning these students are bound to face stigma in these schools,” she further stated.
Magoha sparked controversy last week after he directed that students engaging in homosexuality should be barred from boarding schools.
“Right now, there are contemporary cases of children who are homosexual and lesbians, they must go to day schools close to their homes. Your responsibility should be for the greater majority and not a few individuals. Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by children,” he said.
