AFC Leopards Suspends Club Officials

Kenya premier league club AFC Leopards has suspended its organizing secretary Timothy Lilumbi following allegations of assaults on a match referee.

In a statement released to media houses, KPL says that Lilumbi in collaboration with other club officials were responsible for an a attack against a referee at a match that went down on Sunday 6th against Nzoia Sugar, at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

“Following review of the Referee’s and Match Commissioner’s reports from the SPL 2018-19 Round 6 match between AFC Leopards SC and Nzoia Sugar FC, it has been found an AFC Leopards official, Mr. Timothy Lilumbi, together with some members/supporters of AFC Leopards assaulted the match’s referee and the first assistant referee,” says KPl.

KPL has gone further to emphasize that they will not tolerate any assaults on match officials.

“Kenyan Premier League has zero tolerance on assault against match officials and as such has instituted disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Lilumbi and AFC Leopards before the Independent Disciplinary & Complaints Committee (IDCC),” the statement read.

The case against Timothy Limbuli will be heard on Friday 11th at the KPL headquarters.
