The ministry of health has confirmed reports that 48 people from one family have tested positive to coronavirus.
The 48 Covid-19 positive relatives of former Migori County Speaker Gordon Ogola include his 80 year old mother.
One of them however succumbed to the virus just 24 hours after admission to the hospital.
Ministry of Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has appealed to Kenyans to observe the restrictions put in place in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
Speaking at the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, Kagwe stated that 671 more people have tested positive to coronavirus from a sample size of 6200.
The total number of Kenyans who have tested positive to the virus so far are 23,873.
“When you wear your face mask, you slow the spread of the disease so that our health system is not overwhelmed,” Kagwe said.
“The government cannot get sick… you and I can. It’s not a government responsibility.”
In Nairobi, the virus spread is as follows;Kamukunji and Kasarani 23, Makadara 22, Embakasi East and Starehe with 21 cases each, Dagoretti South and Ruaraka with 20 cases each, Embakasi South 19, Roysambu 17, Embakasi North 15, Embakasi West 14, Embakasi Central 12, Mathare 11.
