The Director of Public Prosecutions has approved murder charges against Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.
The Legislator was linked to a fatal shooting after chaos erupted during campaigns in Ganda Ward, Kilifi County in October 2019.
Jumwa will be charged alongside Geoffrey Okuto Otieno in the murder of Ngumbao Jola who died after being shot in the chest during a confrontation at Reuben Katana’s house.
” @ODPP_KEMombasa Regional Head Alloys Kemo has approved murder & assault charges against Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Geoffrey Okuto Otieno over fatal shooting of man & injury of several people during October 2019 Ganda by election,” read a statement from the Office Of the DPP.
Jumwa’a aide Okuto is apparently not new to gun drama according to the police.
In 2017 during ODM Party’s nominations ahead of the General Elections Okuto who was fighting for the party’s ticket to vie for the Hospital ward seat in Mathare Constituency shot at his rival’s supporters.
He was then arrested and charged with with firing live ammunition in a manner likely to cause terror among the public.
He was later released after complainants failed to show up.
