Alarm Over Drastic Increase Of Sex Workers In Nairobi
The number of commercial sex workers has increased by a whooping 5000 in a period of three years.
A report released by the Nairobi County Government indicates that the number of sex workers has moved from 24,000 to 29,000, a situation that has contributed to the increase of HIV Aids infections.
According to the report, over 11,000 men are having anal sex with their male counterparts while another 7,000 are spreading the HIV virus by sharing unsterilized needles to inject blood in their systems.
Nairobi is currently the county leading with the number of persons living with HIV Aids with a majority of the new infections being adolescents between the age of 18 and 25.
Nairobi County Health Minister Bernard Muia however gave props to the general decline of ne HIV Aids infections in the country.
