Alarm Over New Wave Of Crime In Kisumu County

A section of Migosi ward residents in Kisumu County have sounded an alarm over a new wave of crime that has hit the area.

This follows a series of theft that have been taking place in the area in the past one week.

The suspected thugs break into houses at night and carry away with them household goods and electronics.

The break-ins allegedly take place between 1am and 2 am when people are deep asleep.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio News,  Migosi resident Sheila Oluoch confirmed that at least 10 houses have been broken into and valuable good stolen in ithe past one week.

“Security within Migosi is wanting and to make it worse robbery takes place almost every night. On Sunday, a house was broken into between 1am to 2am in the morning, all house goods were taken away.  On Monday the same happened and it continues almost everyday,” Oluoch said.

Kondele police OCS Mr.Kirui confirmed told Ghetto Radio that so far they are have received reports of crime from Migosi and that they have launched investigations.

He assured the residents of Migosi that the thugs will be brought to book and security status restored.

Oluoch however alleges that lack of employment amongst youths and the recurrent demolitions in Kisumu County have increased the rate of insecurity.

“What causes these insecurity cases within Migosi is lack of employment among the youths and demolitions which were carried out in most parts of Kisumu city leaving businesses destroyed,” she said.

The matter is said to have  been reported to Kondele police station but no action has been taken so far.
