Betika has today announced its involvement as title sponsors for the 6th edition of RX Rally cross. The event, a brainchild of multiple-time Kenyan rally champion Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo and his long-time navigator Tim Jessop is set to take place on April 27 and 28, 2024 at the Kasarani Super Spectator Stage.
Rally cross is Kenya’s newest premier motorsport event, and a part of the Kenya Motorsport Federation (KMSF) Calendar. The event is a combination of rallying and circuit racing.
It features short, sharp, head-to-head races on mixed surfaces of both unpaved, loose surface roads, and tarmac.
Up to five cars at a time will race wheel-to-wheel on a circuit, similar to the Super Spectator Stage at the WRC Safari Rally, but with much closer racing.

The event runs in heats in each race over a maximum of 5 laps with the aim of scoring the most points during the heats to qualify for the semifinal heats.
Team Composition:
There are 6 Teams confirmed, consisting of top drivers from Kenya, Uganda and Zambia. Each of the teams will be made up of:
A Champion Driver (Former or Current Motorsport Champion)
A Veteran Driver (50 years old and above)
A Female Driver
A Junior Driver (30 years and below)
This will be the first of three rally cross events in 2024 and promises to be bigger and better than ever before. This year’s inaugural RX event has also been combined with the Amapiano Tour, which will expose the high-speed, high-adrenalin and excitement of RX to lovers of the bass-heavy music genre, whose origins can be traced to South Africa.
Said Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo, speaking on the upcoming event: “We are excited for some Rallycross action, featuring previous participants like the evergreen Ian Duncan, Baldev Chager, Azad Anwar, and myself.
Youngsters Hamza Anwar and Joseph Gacheche will fight it out who is the fastest junior this season. In the ladies’ category, we expect Tash Tundo, Jeniffer Malik and other amazing female drivers to deliver a proper show.
At the end of each rally day, we shall take the excitement to the village for an unforgettable after party experience, curated in partnership with the Amapiano tour team.”
Said Betika Managing Director, Mutua Mutava, “Betika is fast becoming a household name in Kenyan motorsport.
This time, Rally cross is bringing together high-adrenaline, wheel-to-wheel racing and the Amapiano tour, which will be a great spectacle for the fans. Do not miss out. It will be a spectacle like no other.”
