Allegri won’t deny or confirm Arsenal link

Juventus’ coach Massimiliano Allegri shouts during a Serie A soccer

Massimiliano Allegri would not “deny or confirm” speculations linking him to succeed Arsene Wennger as the Arsenal manager. Reports suggest Massimiliano Allegri is in advanced talks to replace Wenger.

Wenger’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and the longtime Gunners’ manager is  yet to pen another deal.

Reports have suggested Arsenal are in advance talks to bring the Italian manager to the Emirates. However, Allegri refused to shed light on the speculations following Juve’s 2-0 defeat of Crotone on Wednesday.

“I won’t deny or confirm anything. I am in sync with the club, now we have to focus on winning”. Allegri told Mediaset Premium.

A number of Gunners fans have expressed their feelings following the clubs string of poor results in recent days. Some think its high time Wenger packed his belongings and left the Emirates.

This comes just after the humiliating defeat of 3:1 to the London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday .Wenger is serving a four match ban from the FA on touchline conduct case. He was spotted in the stands as he witnessed his side suffer a crash in the hands of the blues.

However, Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, speaking before Wednesday’s win believes that Allegri will stay at Juventus beyond this season.

“Aside from the fact we have a contract with Allegri, I think there are still great targets we need to achieve together and our rapport is very good. There is no reason for him to leave Juventus as there is great mutual admiration and affection.” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.
