America’s President Donald Trump nominated for the Nobel peace price
The 45th President of America has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel peace price for his role in ending the Israeli-Gulf war.
The Nobel peace prize is awarded to outstanding contributors who foster for peace, in the world.
There are five categories of awards that are feted in the nobel prize awards and they include Peace, Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine and Literature.
It is not the first time that the the leader of the free world has been nominated for these prestigious awards, in 2018, Mr Trump was nominated for the same prize, then for his efforts to bring reconciliation to North and South Korea.
According to President Trump,In August 2020, Israel and the UAE reached a deal to normalise relations, and Israel agreed to suspend its controversial plans to incorporate part of the occupied West Bank.
The nomination period for these prestigious awards run from September to February and eventually the winner is announced and feted on 10th December in Oslo Norway.
The Peace Prize is the only Nobel Prize not presented in Sweden and As of 2019, the prize was worth 9 million Swedish Kronas and Since 1990, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony is held at Oslo City Hall.
