Embakasi East Member of Parliament is apparently selling his four degree certificates.
The MP who has at least 10 academic certificates, diplomas and degrees combined, is offering his papers to a willing buyer who would like to contest in next year’s general elections.
“The introduction of Degree Certificate as a condition to contest for all the positions in 2022 will be a challenge to many, as a result, I’m asking anyone without a degree certificate to buy one of my many Degrees. I have 6 Diplomas and 4 Degree certificates at an affordable price,” wrote Babu Owino on his social media page.
However, those who want a first class honors certificate will have to part with more cash.
“Hurry while the stock lasts. First class Honors in Actuarial Science will cost you a leg and an arm plus your liver,” he wrote.
Babu’s announcement comes just a day after Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen drafted a bill to amend Section 22 of the Elections Act to remove the requirement of an academic degree for those seeking to run for MPs and MCAs.
Section 22 of the Elections Act states that a person may be nominated as a candidate for an election under this Act only if that person is qualified to be elected to that office under the constitution.
Under this act, the elected MP and MCA must have a degree from a university recognized in Kenya.
