Reports indicate that the organizers of the event were angered by the music troop’s inappropriate dance moves which allegedly breached the occasion’s cultural touch.
The incident sparked outrage from residents, religious leaders and even county officials who attended the closing ceremony at Mkunguni Square in Lamu.
Attempts to caution the group about their uncultured moves proved futile compelling event organizers and other local leaders to hound them off the stage.
Speaking to the press, Coast region National Museums of Kenya Deputy Director Athman Hussein denounced the Offside Trick actions, urging event organizers to vet and appraise the performers first.
“That was a very embarassing and regrettable incident, Lamu is a historical town which is also enlisted as a Unesco world heritage site,” said Hussein.
The annual cultural festival is an opportunity to experience Lamu life at its most exuberant joyous.
