This is a new position created in changes announced Wednesday “to ensure timely, consistent, coherent, and coordinated communication to the public on all matters relating to The National Government’s agenda.”
Deputy chief of Staff and head of public service Nzioka Waita said the Office of the National Government Spokesperson will function from the State Department of Interior and Coordination of National Government while the Office of the State House Spokesperson will remain within the Executive Office of the President.
Kiraithe has been working as General Manager for Security Services at the Kenya Airports Authority on secondment from police. His replacement at KAA has not been named.
“Mr. Kiraithe, who has a long and distinguished history of public service mainly in the security sector, will take up his new post immediately, moving from his current role as General Manager for Security Services at the Kenya Airports Authority,” said Waita.
The position was active during the coalition government under President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga and was held by Machako Governor Alfred Mutua. Kiraithe worked as the National Police Service Spokesperson up to January 2013 when he was moved to KAA.
