Renowned grassroots Coach Zuberi Abdala aka Chameleon from Pumwani Majengo area is seeking help from well-wishers to assist in making his back to school tournament a success.

The tournament which takes place every time schools are about to open, has failed to kick off because of lack of enough funds.

Chameleon who is the former Pumwani coach says that he started organizing the tournament in 2016 together with his friend Apollo Obote.

The tournament features both boys and girls under the age of 16 years.

“The main aim of the tournament is to educate the children on teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, life skills and also about the Covid 19 pandemic.

We also want to change the face of Majengo which is known for transporting youths to join Alshabab and stealing by producing learned people and more football talents,” Says Abdala.

Chameleone is known for coaching prominent Kenyan players like former Harambee Stars and Kenyan International Dennis Oliech, Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama, former Tusker player Humphery Mieno, Mathare United’s Clifford Alwanga, team manager Wilson Obungu, Jamal Muhammed and many more decided to give back to the society by starting the Academy.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio, Chameleone says that he is thanking parents for granting their children permission to attend training sessions however he says that most of the parents lack enough funds to support the children and the teams as a whole.

“The main challenge we are facing is lack of training grounds and also lack of enough funds to proceed with the tournament that has been going on in the previous years,” said Chameleone.

Apart from training the children they also have football disciplinary lessons where they educate the children on how to conduct themselves.

“Organizing a tournament is very easy but after putting it on paper and calculating the budget, the funds to make it a success happens to be a challenge on us which requires assistance. We also require support to get enough kits, balls and trophies,” said Obote, Chamelone’s partner.

“I would want to encourage my players to always be patient and to always remember that there is nothing that has a start and does not have an end,” added Chemeleone.

They would like to get support with school books, running the tournaments, getting facilities and maintain their academy.
