Angry goons yesterday disrupted a public participation meeting organized by the Kisumu County government officials in Kombewa, Seme, Kisumu County.
The meeting which was being held at the NG-CDF grounds yesterday was supposed to see the residents of Kombewa have a an open discussion on the elevation of Kombewa into a town.
The residents claim that they fear that they might lose their parcels of land if the proposals sail through.
The residents also claimed that the meeting which was held on a weekday was not going to capture the views of the majority who were on their daily hustles.
While they support the elevation of Kombewa into a town, they also want the county government to conduct proper sensitization in a bid to help the residents understand.
“How does the homestead, that is free land qualify for taxation and has Kombewa land demarcation done?”Oscar Komware asked.
Some of them have also cautioned politicians against turning the meetings into political events.
“It was sad yesterday that those who call themselves Seme professionals decided to disrupt a government function for their own political scores,” said Agumba a Seme professional.
