Angry residents lay trap hack to death livestock thieves


Angry residents of Mithuthi-ini village in Kirinyaga County on Monday morning hacked to death four suspected livestock thieves in the area.

According to a section of the residents, they got tired of the notorious gang and decided to lay a trap to nab them.

A soon as the unknowing suspects showed up to steal the goats that were used as a trap, the residents pounced on them, hacking them to pieces.

Confirming the incident, Mwea East Deputy Police Commander Lucas Chebet said the four were “cut into pieces by residents using pangas.”

The deputy police commander further added that two other suspects managed to escape the scene.

Bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Kerugoya Hospital mortuary.
