Ann Kananu Declares Support For Igathe’s Gubernatorial Bid

Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu has now thrown her weight behind Azimio la Umoja gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe.

Kananu describes Igathe as a visionary manager who will steer Nairobi County to greater heights.

Kananu hosted Igathe at her Cityhall offices welcoming him back for the first  time in Cityhall years after his resignation as Deputy Governor.

“We are here to thank our Jubilee party leadership for the decision they took and the direction they took to nominate one Polycarp Igathe. I know he did his part and left. The same way I come in and am also leaving. So i want to encourage him today, Nairobi county is still intact and i believe that he will take the work I have done to the next level and I want to assure Polycarp Igathe that I am going to give you 100% of my support,” Kananu said.

I want to assure all my support for Nairobi Gubernatorial position under jubilee party you are safe under Igathe and you are safe under Azimio la Umoja

Kananu however, defended her move saying it was for the interest of Nairobians and Azimio la Umoja.

Igathe applauded Kananu’s decision and extended an olive branch to those who lost in party primaries to work with him.

He promised to accommodate everyone and make Nairobi a better city.

“It is very important that Kenyans especially Nairobians see that there is continuity in politics and what you have shown here today is that politics is not a competition. I would like to appeal to all aspirants that this is the time to prove that you truly wanted to serve Nairobi even though you did not win. Let’s come out and campaign and when we win, the office of the Governor has a lot of space to accommodate everyone,’’ said Igathe.

The function was graced by Azimio MCAs among other top county officials.
