Anne Kananu, vetted, approved and sworn-in in record time
Anne Kananu has been sworn in as the new Nairobi Deputy Governor.
Kananu was sworn just a few minutes after the Nairobi County Assembly approved her nomination.
Kananu’s vetting took place today morning and shortly after, her name was presented to the County Assembly for approval.
She has already signed documents to become Nairobi County’s third deputy governor.
During her vetting Kananu stated that she will uphold the rule of law in all her leadership should she be approved as the Deputy Governor.
Kananu was responding to a question from Minority leader Michael Ogada who asked how differently she will deal with the issue of corruption in the county.
Governors have been accused of armtwisting their CECs and accounting officers into signing some corrupt deals.
Earlier today, the court refused to grant former Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko stay orders on the vetting of Kananu.
