Police on Thursday evening recovered body of a man from Nairobi River in Chokaa area in Embakasi East Constituency.

Police say that the body had no visible injuries at the time that it was retrieved from the river at 7pm.

According to the police the body seemed to have been swept to the area from another area.

This is not the first time, a body has been recovered from a river in Embakasi East Constituency.

Last month a dismembered body of a person was also recovered in Kayole, Soweto area. The dismembered body had been stashed in a gunny bag.

Residents raise concern

Chokaa residents have in the meantime raised concerns over growing insecurity in the area demanding prompt action from the police.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio News the residents raised concerns on the number of bodies being retrieved in the area.

“Sisi tumeshtuka kuona hiyo mwili Jana hatutaishi vi  na hofu makarao wetu lazima wakam out wadeal na huo unyama.imagine unaamka asubui unapata mwili unalowa juu ya maji ..Pia wale wazee wetu wa nyumba kumi mnalala sana hatujui information gani hua mnapeana police juu kama hamwezi mwondoke tuchague wengine,” Peter Selenyi said.

The body discovered in Chokaa was taken to the city mortuary awaiting autopsy.
