Another Boy Shot Dead In Kiamaiko By Police
A 17 year old boy was yesterday evening gunned down at Kiamaiko area in Mathare Constituency.
Haila Asanake was allegedly shot by police officers attached to the Pangani Police Station who were on patrol in the area.
According to Asnaq’s uncle Adan Gichu, his nephew was shot after a confrontation between members of the public and the police who were allegedly harassing a driver in the area.
Gichu says that the public got agitated hence the confrontation that resulted to the shooting of his nephew at the balcony of his house.
A police report seen by Ghetto Radio confirmed the shooting saying that Asanake was killed by a stray bullet.
The police report further alleges that the officers were attempting to disperse the public members who were allegedly stoning the police.
“Officers from DCI Pangani who were on mobile patrol boarding motor vehicle GKA 183Y make Toyota ZRE within areas of Kiamaiko encountered a suspicious motor vehicle Reg No. KCW 777G make BMW driver,” reads the report.
“Upons stopping the said motorvehicle the driver alighted and a scuffle ensued thereby members of the public started stoning the alleged officers prompting the officers to shoot in the air and accidentally, a stray bullet shot the deceased,” report further states.
Asanake was rushed to the Jumia Hospital and was unfortunately pronounced dead.
His body is currently at the city mortuary.
