Another member of the National Assembly has been arrested for going against the Covid-19 restrictions placed by the government.
Kasipul Kabondo MP Charles Ong’ondo Were was arrested yesterday for holding a public gathering at his home in Oyugis area Homabay County.
Were was arrested following a tip off to the police by a member of the public.
Photos of the meeting shows a number of people, majority of whom are elderly men and women seated at the MPs place.
Witnesses say that the meeting was reportedly held to discuss some development projects in his constituency, Kasipul Kabondo.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney confirmed the arrest.
Were’s arrest comes just a day after Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja was released on a fine of Ksh. 15,000 for contravening the COVID-19 restrictions.
The maximum sentence for the offence of contravening the Covid-19 restrictions is a fine of Ksh. 20,000 or six months in prison.
