Art Runs In My Blood, Says Painter Cum Music Star Elfour El

Meet up and coming music star cum painter Lawrence Ochieng commonly known as Elfour El.

“Art runs in my blood, I am art and art is me” he said during our interview at Trapflix Studio’s at Thika Road where he’s signed by JT Bigga Figga Us Rapper and entrepreneur.

Musical Journey

Elfour El started his musical life from a tender age only at nine in Mathare North Estate in Eastlands. At 13 years he was already gracing stages as a gospel artist until he switched to contemporary urban music when he joined high school.

“I started doing music while I was at the age of nine, started performing on stages when I was 13. My place of practicing performance was at Mathare North Social Hall (Area 2) where I gained power over stage fright. Those days I was a strict gospel artist and this changed after I joined high school,” he said.

 Uses Music As Therapy

They say music is the mirror of the society, Elfour El follows this mantra closely as he uses music to motivate the youth especially the boy child who has been sidelined when it comes to matters dealing with self esteem.

“My music is intended to motivate the youth, mostly the boy child for they have been receiving less attention when it comes to self-esteem issues. I chose to conduct therapy to my listeners through my songs and this is evident in my tracks such as Serereka and Krisimasi fever among others,” he stated.

Paintwork Guru

He terms himself a paintwork guru for his outstanding display of  pieces of artwork that earn him a living.”I do painting, pencil and ball point art works, my portrait touch is out of this world” he added.

He has had to overcome countless of obstacles from lack of shows characterized by the Corona pandemic to musical distribution.

Elfour El dreams of conquering the musical world, setting up a recording label and an art school in aiding future stars.
