A Kisumu based artist has lost his life after he was attacked by a mob for allegedly paying for a phone and other goods using fake money.
The 29 year old artist known as Noizer Balaa was beaten by angry Kibuye traders when he presented fake notes to an unsuspecting shop attendant.
“The guy was found with fake boxes made in cash format with some few new notes on top, rolled together with a rubber band in his pocket,” said an eye witness.
The shop attendant then alerted fellow traders who traced him outside the Russia Hospital and started beating him.
“ He had angered the traders as many of them within Kibuye market have fallen in the same trap. That’s why he was seriously mobbed,” explained Otieno ,a cobbler near Russia Referral Hospital.
He later lost his life at Russia Referral Hospital where he was admited.
His fellow artists have condemned the act but have at the same time advised their colleagues to try and earn an honest living despite the harsh times.
“Youths should look for life alternative rather than steal , be a bodaboda rider or carry luggage for cash”, they stated.
