Washamba Wenza Is Not Dead,Kev Mamba And Flamez Mshamba Confirms


Two founding members of the urban hip hop quartet Washamba Wenza, Kev Mamba and Flamez Mshamba Mwenza have come out to refute the group’s death.

In an exclusive interview with Ghetto Radio News Team,The Ukoo Flani Maumau’s offshoot crew, Kev Mamba and Flamez Mshamba Mwenza reaffirmed Washamba Wenza’s existence.

“Tuko kwa sana, we’re very much alive, it’s just that at the moment each rapper in the crew has taken on their own paths and career choices” Stated Flamez Mshamba Mwenza.

On his part, Kev Mamba made a similar statement maintaining that they’re still alive on the Kenyan musical radar though pushing solo projects.

“Kwa sasa tuko busy na solo projects infact I’ve been working on my LP which soon drops in the market, am working on the final tracks… Plus we’ve just released a brand new track – Visualizer (YouTube) with my Ninja Levy Coded (K_PAC) ngoma inaitwa KARIBIA “Said Kev Mamba.


The Hip hop group came up in the 2000’s from Kenya’s famed rap neighborhood Dandora, thanks to their close association with Ukoo Flani Maumau.It kicked off as a trio, Kev Mamba, Flamez Mshamba Mwenza and Smallz Lethal before being joined by Frank West Mshamba.

“I received my teaching and motivation from the Kenyan Hip hop Legends Ukoo Flani Maumau, I had several solo projects before teaming up with Smallz Lethal and Kev Mamba to form the outstanding and musically respected crew WASHAMBA WENZA” Added Flamez.

“We used to walk together as friends, stay together, eat and drink together, writing songs together as three young talented ninjaz with great minds” reminisced Kev Mamba.

They went on to build a formidable hip hop group churning out their debut mixtape, MSHAMBA GUILTY THE MIXTAPE amongst other classical singles.They also spearheaded the monthly hip hop show ‘HIP HOP HOOK UP’ at Sarakasi Dome in Ngara.

Currently Flamez has three albums as a solo artiste namely For The People, Zile Masiku and no regrets and another collaborative album with French rapper Oterik dubbed S.M.R/PANAM NAIRAW. He continues to mentor upcoming artists in his neighborhood. On the other hand, Kev Mamba is best known for his mixtape ‘NGORI’ and BMW(Beard Mixtape W-Rap) which has the run away hit single ‘Mambo Beard’.

Kev Mamba is learning the ropes in terms of music, video production and instrumentation. He looks forward to becoming an all rounded musical guru.
