Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has gotten himself in trouble with Azimio la Umoja Coalition following his recent dalliance with Kenya Kwanza.
Alai attended a meeting convened by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Karen residence against the will of the Azimio Coalition.
In a letter Majority Chief Whip Moses Ogeto says the coalition advised all its members not to attend the said meeting but Alai defied the directive.
“In a message dated 22nd April 2024, all the Azimio One Kenya Coalition members, through the office of the Majority Party Whip, were duly advised not to attend a meeting called by the Kenya kwanza deputy party leader, at the Karen Office. However, in open defiance and disrespect of the said communication you proudly chose to attend and keenly followed as fellow attendees committed to work with Kenya kwanza to advance their policies. In a photo that has since been made public, you are captured proudly and admiringly listening, thereby advancing the polices and ideologies of the Kenya Kwanza. Coalition. Your unethical dalliance and open affection toward. Sour rival coalition, KENYA KWANZA ns evidenced by your attendance is treated as serious misconduct and disrespect to the House Leadership and the leadership of AZIMIO ONE KENYA COALITION.’’ The letter reads.
He has now been given 10 days to explain his actions before disciplinary action is instituted against him.
‘‘Your public display, conduct and general comportment not only violates sections 14A of the political Parties Act Article 11 of the party constitution, Article 11 the party’s code of conduct that signed but has facilitated to send mixed signals and cause unnecessary anxiety within the party membership and supporters. You are hereby asked to submit a written explanation of your conduct and provide us with a valid cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against you. It should reach to the office of the Majority Party Whip by 16th of May 2023.’’ The communication reads.
