Azimio Nominates Former Deputy Speaker for Nairobi Assembly Speaker Seat
The Azimio la Umoja Coalition has now settled on former Kware ward MCA Ken Ngondi as their candidate for speaker race at the Nairobi County Assembly.
In a letter Orange Democratic Movement Party designated Ngondi as the speaker candidate with the same getting approval from both Jubilee and Wiper party.
The former Kware ward representative is likely to face former speaker Ben Mutura who is seeking re-election on Kenya Kwanza ticket.
Ng’ondi who once served as a deputy speaker is optimistic that he will clinch the seat.
In a phone interview with Ghetto Radio News Ngondi asked Nairobi MCAs across the political divide to elect him.
“I was given my letter on 24th August so it is no-longer who will represent Azimio in the race so I am actually appealing to the Azimio fraternity to give me their support in totality that’s 69 the members …” Ngo’ndi said.
He has however, pledged to bring peace and harmony among members and uplift the assembly’s image that deteriorated in the past.
“Under normal circumstances in any organisation all you need is every employee to stick to their lane …but we must come together as a House because a divide house cannot stand…” he said.
It is also rumoured that former Langata MP Nixon Korir is also in the race.
“So far we know of Mutura but others are allowed to come, we have Masaki and Korir all rumored we want them to come out clearly and declare their interests,” a source said.
The first sitting of the assembly is expected next week after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission gazetted nominated MCAs.
