In summary:

  • Six English players, including Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice, have been nominated for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or.
  • Ten players from the Premier League, including Rodri, Erling Haaland, and Ruben Dias from Manchester City, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard from Arsenal, and Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, are also in the running.
  • Vinicius Jr., the Brazilian winger from Real Madrid, is currently the heavy favorite to win the Ballon d’Or following his outstanding performance in the Champions League.

Jude Bellingham is one of six England players nominated for the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or, with Real Madrid, the Premier League, and Spain’s European champions dominating the 30-man shortlist.

Bellingham, who finished 18th in the final award list the previous year, was chosen because of his contribution to Real Madrid’s Champions League and La Liga triumphs last season, as well as England’s journey to the Euro 2024 final last summer.

The 21-year-old midfielder wants to win the Ballon d’Or and become just the fourth Englishman to do so since Michael Owen did so in 2001. Other England teammates, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice, are also listed with him.

These four players are among the ten Premier League nominees, which also include Rodri, Erling Haaland, and Ruben Dias from Manchester City, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard from Arsenal, and Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa. In addition, the Argentine will be aiming to hold onto his Yashin Trophy as the top goalkeeper.

The last Premier League player to win the Ballon d’Or was Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008. For the first time since 2003, neither superstar Cristiano Ronaldo nor his competitor Lionel Messi are on the list of nominees this year.

Vinicius Jr. is currently the heavy favorite to win.

The Brazilian winger was Real Madrid’s standout player in their 15th European Cup victory. He scored twice against Bayern Munich in the semi-final first leg and then sealed the deal with the second goal in a 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in June.
