Bandari FC has submitted a formal letter to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) raising concerns about the eligibility of their former player Amos Asembeka who is currently playing for Sofapaka. The Mombasa based club insists that Asembeka is still under contract with them.

According to Bandari FC, Asembeka’s contract with the club is valid for one and a half years, spanning from February 16, 2023, to June 30, 2024.

“It is with great concern that we have noted that Sofapaka football club fielded player Valentine Amos Asembeka who is a footballer of Bandari football club during 3 consecutive matches against Kenya police  FC on 21st October 2023, played at Kenyatta stadium Machakos against Tusker FC, on 28th October played at Kenyatta stadium Machakos against KCB FC, 1st November 2023 at Moi international sports center Kasarani Annex stadium and against FC Talanta on 4th November 2023 played at Kenyatta stadium Machakos,”

“Bandari FC wishes to confirm that up to date Valentine Amos Asembeka remains our footballer,”

Asembeka’s salary up to date

The club emphasizes that they have not terminated the player’s contract but have engaged in discussions, facilitated by the player’s lawyer, to explore a mutual termination agreement, which has yet to be reached.

“The player has a valid contract with Bandari football club for 1 and a half years (from 16th February 2023 to 30th June 2024)

“The club has been paying the players monthly salary and is up to date with the payments,”

Bandari FC claims to have been paying the player monthly salary despite ongoing negotiations.

According to bandari Asembeka participated in four FKF premier league matches while donning the sofapaka jersey on October 21st 28th October 2023, 1st November 2023 and 4th November 2023.

The club sought clarification from the FKF regarding Asembeka’s eligibility to play in these matches, given the existing contractual obligations between the player and Bandari FC.
