Bar owners defying laws facing shut down

All bar owners and those operating wines and spirits in Nairobi have been warned to desist from selling to youths alcohol as early as 6 am  in the morning.

According Nairobi  City County Alcoholic Drinks Control and Licensing Board Chairman Kennedy Odhiambo,  youths are the most affected lot with odd hours drinking ,something he says poses a dangerous signal in growth of youths in the city.

The board now wants all alcohol operators to comply with regulations failure to which such outlets will be shut down.

He further warned board officials who have been accused  of issuing fake licences to bar owners and wines and spirits  that the law will catch up with them.

Currently two officials have been  suspended and arraigned in court over the same.

Some  board officials,  have been in many occasions accused  of asking for bribes whenever, they do inspections.
