Battle Looms As Nairobi County Plans To Send Its Employees on Early Retirement

By Allan Otieno

Stalemate looms between Nairobi County Government and its employees following an elaborate plan to send into early retirement all employees aged fifty years and above.

In an annual Development Plan Financial Year 2021/2022 County Executive Committee for Public Service Veska Kangogo says that all those who will heed to the scheme will be given full retirement package and that Ksh.100 millions has been set aside for the plan.

Nairobi County Government Workers Unions has however, differed with the plans saying the move is an infringement to their contractual terms.

The Union’s boss Benson Oliang’a says it is an orchestrated move by city hall honchos to employ their cronies.

“We shall not allow them.. prepare for a tough war ..we shall demonstrate and even challenge it in courts it is clear they want to employ their own people,” Oliang’a said.
