Close to 80 beggars were today arrested in an operation that kicked-off at exactly 5 am this morning in Nairobi CBD.
Nairobi county government yesterday issued a warning to all beggars and those using them to acquire money that stern action will be taken against them and they will not be allowed in the Nairobi CBD.
Those arrested today were taken to Withaka Social Hall and according to Nairobi executive committee for youths,gender and Social services Janet Ouko there data are being taken before appropriate action is taken .
Meanwhile the county government is set to bring a bill irregularising all beggars in Nairobi and clear frame work to support the disable Kenyans in the city.
Meanwhile Kariobangi North and Korogocho slums are areas leading in hosting beggars being used to make money.
They are mainly Tanzanian citizens and are in the country illegally
