Belgium International Divock Origi is in the country for holiday ahead of the World Cup 2018


Origi who missed the chance to represent his country in Russia landed in Kenya last week on Thursday and is said to have visited among many other places his rural home in Kakamega.

According to Origis’s God father and his Dad’s  best friend Parre Okumu Origi has limited time in the country as he is set to join his team mates in Liverpool.

23 year old Origi is the son of Former international striker Mike Okoth who is also with him in the country.

Origi was born in Ostend and grew up in Houthalen Oost .

He was born into a family of footballers. His father Mike Okoth played for KVOostende at the time Divock was born) and Genk, among other Belgian clubs, as well as the Kenya national team.

His uncle, Austin Oduor, played for Gor Mahia in the Kenya Premier League while his other uncles, Gerald and Anthony, played for Tusker.

His cousin Arnold Origi currently plays in the Norwegian League and has featured for the the Kenya national team as a goalkeeper.

He began his senior professional career 2012 with French club Lille before moving to Liverpool in 2014 after his World Cup debut.

In August 2017 he was loaned to German side Wolfburg after falling behind Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the Reds’ pecking order.

Origi made his international debut for Belgium in 2014, and was part of their team which reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 Fifa World Cup , during which he became the youngest goalscorer in Belgian World Cup history.
