Benga Artist Osito Kalle Humbles Rapper Japesa
Veteran Luo Benga Musician Elly Akumu popularly known as Dr. Osito Kalle has hit out at new skool Luo rapper Japesa who referred to him as “Useless”.
Osito Kalle who gave a fired up performance during Madaraka Day celebrations has told Japesa to stick to his rapping lane.
The Benga Maetro says that unlike Japesa who relies on electronic mixes to perform, he performs live music while playing real music instruments.
“I just want to tell Japesa one thing that he is just a rapper not a musician, a musician is one who can hold a guitar playing it at the same time singing, not using electronics music and computer mixings. So before you call me useless and nonsense, remember I have a family that I feed. I pay my Bills not you doing it, I have my home I don’t stay in your house. I am not a rapper as you am a Benga artist, our lines are different, I do my music manually and I do not depend on DJs backups,” fired an agitated Osito Kalle.
Osito Kalle’s response comes a few days after the veteran artist led other artists in entertaining the masses in Kisumu during the 58th Madaraka Day Celebrations.
Osito Kalle’s performance moved President Uhuru Kenyatta and other invited dignitaries to their feet in enjoyment.
The ‘Asembo Piny Maber’ Singer is credited with nurturing the talents of several leading Benga Musician’s such as The Late Omondi Long Lilo, Dolla Kabarry and Emma Jalamo among others.
Days before Madaraka Day Celebrations, the Luo rapper, Japesa had been ranting on social media for being left out in being part of the entertainers list.
He also went ahead and termed pioneer Luo urban artist’s’ jokers’ the likes of the late Poxi Presha, Big Pin, the late Mighty King Kong and the Legendary Gidigidi and Majimaji.
His rant however backfired badly on him leading to his wide condemnation from fans and industry players alike.
