Cash strapped Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Vihiga Bullets received a timely boost ahead of their weekend league match when betting company BetNare offered to meet their requirements for the game.
The club was stranded at the Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday after their match against AFC Leopards and had to send an appeal for help to raise money for fuel back to western Kenya.
While well-wishers sent in donation which enabled them return home, the club’s coach George Owoko approached BetNare to help them honour their home match and the betting company agreed.
“The team is really suffering; we have not had a sponsors since last year and the players most of them who are bread winners are not able to meet their daily obligations,” Owoko said.
