The United Democratic Party UDA will tomorrow conduct it’s first ever party primaries .The party registered a total of 5,700 aspirants for various seats across the country.
UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina says all is in place to conduct free and fair Nominations and no violence is anticipated in areas that are hotly contested.
Maina told the media that they have deployed enough security officers to quell any attempt of lawlessness in polling stations.
“You can expect that the party has done everything possible to make sure that we have organized primaries properly we have dispatched our no strategic materials, we are getting set at the counties the ROs have been appointed and we are still sorting out the list where there is contentions we are believing and trusting that our aspirants will be very peaceful and if there in any issues they can always escalate them with us. So we are expecting primaries that will be credible free, fair transparent and if there is any dispute no need to worry we have an organ dealing with disputes.” Main said .
Hotly contested areas are all Positions in South and North Rift areas in Rift Valley,Muranga,Nakuru among other places.
In Kiambu the gubernatorial race attracted Ferdinand Waititu, Partrick Wainaina alias jungle and Senator Wamatangi , the three will be squaring it out in the ballot tomorrow.
Kajiado County the gubernatorial seat is hotly contested between mp Peris Tobiko and Katoo Ole Metito both close allies of deputy president William Ruto.
In Starehe constituency the battle is between Charles Kanyi alias Jaguar and EALA MP Simon Mbugua.
UDA party says it is ready to deal with any dispute that may arise.
“I don’t think it will be beyond good planning to expect disputes in primaries especially in hotly contested areas where we have our strongholds for that reason we are prepared,” Maina added.
