The late Chadwick Boseman’s presence can still be felt in the new trailer for Black Panther, Wakanda Forever.
In the trailer, Boseman’s presence is indirect as a reimagined version of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman No Cry’ plays as Letitia Wright who plays the role Shuri and Angela Bassett who plays the role of Queen Ramonda mourn the loss of their king.
As the trailer continues, a painting of Chadwick pops up and the music transitions into ‘Alright’ by American rapper Kendrick Lamar to show that the people of Wakanda still have hope for a better future even as they go through the despair of losing their King T’Challa.
The film’s cinematic release is scheduled for November 11, 2022.
Boseman played the role of King T’Challa in the first release of Black Panther which was out in 2018 and his absence is still felt by his cast mates after his untimely death in 2020.
However some of the fans feel like the character of T’Challa should have been recast stating that it is not right for the character to be done away with.
“No matter what Chadwick will always have a place in our heart? He’s our Black Panther but the show must go on. It’s not about dignity or disrespecting the character. Boseman would have wanted #RecastT’Challa to pass the beacon rather than killing the character with all this honour and murals,” wrote Godwin Biju.
