Blackrock Rugby Festival on for this weekend

Maseno School,Strathmore School at the 2015 Blackrock Rugby Festival

Defending Champions Maseno School  will have to come out strong to defeat Strathmore School to retain their trophy in the upcoming Blackrock Rugby Festival  Saturday May 28th.

The 33rd Edition of the Blackrock Rugby Festival will see Maseno school battle out with Rugby 7s Champions Upper Hill and Moi forces academy in pool A.

The 2015 runners up Strathmore will battle out with Mutuini in pool B in a tournament that is set to take place at St.Mary’s school.

This years edition has attracted close to 30 teams requesting for an invitation whereas the tournament can only accommodate 24 teams.

“The first teams to confirm their invitation will be given a priority in the tournament” said Mr Gregory Sang tournament director and St.Mary’s Principal.

Four schools,Lang’ata Secondary, GEMS Cambridge, Ushirika Secondary and Raila Secondary School on the other hand will be making  their debut in the traditional tournament.

“It’s always good to have new schools that shows the growth of the the game that is taking place and over the years new schools have been coming by;it creates an opportunity for interaction among the school”, added Mr Sang.

Meanwhile the girls secondary schools will not participate in this year’s tournament due to “logistic issues”.

Pool H: Saints, Parklands
