“We had high hopes for June, but the times are tender,” read the caption accompanying the release, capturing both the disappointment and caution that informed the decision.
While the move may come as a blow to fans eager for a musical escape, the organizers reassured followers that this is not a cancellation but merely a pause.

Lineup of Performers for the June Edition
On Sunday, 29 June 2025, at Laureate Gardens (Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani), the Blankets & Wine festival was set to celebrate its 16th anniversary with a stellar main-stage lineup.
The diverse acts included South Africa’s soulful house trio Mi Casa, known for hits like “Jika” and “Tulale Fofofo”; Kenyan performers Matata and Ssaru, blending Gengetone, Afrobeats, and dynamic choreography; and Serro, offering a unique take on contemporary Kenyan folk fusion.
Rising stars Shad Mziki (soul pop) and We Are Nubia (Afropop–R&B) were also on the bill, alongside Tanzanian legend Saida Karoli, known for her rich Taarab and Bongo Flava sound, and Uganda’s energetic dancehall artist Joshua Baraka.
In addition, the Onja Onja Stage was set to feature a vibrant mix of electronic-Afro sounds, with performances by Akoth Jumadi & Mr Lu, Coco Kahi, DJ IV & Bune, Ghedi x Hiribae x Paps, and DJ Ite.
Despite the impressive lineup and venue, organizers have announced a full refund for all tickets purchased for the June edition. The refunds will be processed within 14 working days.
