A  boda boda operator Michael  Maina from Eastleigh Section three has lost his eye in an alleged assault by police officers who were manning  8th street during the curfew hours.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio News  Maina says he was accosted by the officers who brutally assaulted him without giving him time to explain himself.

‘‘They  found  me with a customer but  it was around 7 pm,  they then  assaulted me on the face using their  fimbo before  dragging  me down from the motorbike then they left.’’ He said.

It was at this moment that he was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for treatment.

‘‘I was taken to Mama Lucy, where they carried out a surgery..   leaving me with one eye…’’ he explains.

Meanwhile, the Eastleigh Resident Association Chairman David Odhiambo has condemned the act accusing the police of using excessive force during the curfew.

‘‘We are seeking a meeting with Pangani police bosses to address these brutalities it is sad to lose an eye in hands of a police because of  curfew..they could have arrested him but assaulting residents we shall not allow,’’ Odhiambo added.
